We take your privacy and the privacy of your students very seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we use and process information that can be used to directly or indirectly identify an individual (“Personal Data”) collected through use of the Laprea Education Inc. website and the Developing Decoders All Access Pass digital platform. Please read this Privacy Policy and contact us if you have any questions.

We Empower Schools to Make Data Decisions

  • Schools and districts can use the Developing Decoders All Access Pass without sharing any Personal Data from students other than their first and last name. Teachers will set up student accounts and use the Developing Decoders All Access Pass to track their students’ progress. It is at each teacher’s discretion how to add their students’ names into the student manager. Teachers can use students’ complete names, shortened abbreviated names, or initials in order for students to access the site and the materials.
  • A student’s name is entered into the database by their teacher, and each student is assigned a two-picture password.
  • AT NO TIME IS A STUDENT REQUESTED TO ADD ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION ABOUT THEMSELVES INTO THE DEVELOPING DECODERS ALL ACCESS PASS PLATFORM.

Developing Decoders All Access Pass is Committed to Maintaining a Safe and Compliant Platform

  • Student data will NOT be used for commercial purposes.
  • We will only share Personal Data of students in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
  • We use industry standard security practices, such as SSL encryption.
  • Data is retained only for education purposes.

Children’s Use of the Developing Decoders All Access Pass

Only parents, schools, and districts that have obtained licenses and provided consent on behalf of students can create student accounts. Children and students are NEVER REQUIRED to submit any personal information onto the Developing Decoders All Access Pass platform. Parents have the right to contact Laprea Education Inc. to remove and/or delete ALL student data.

Each student is assigned to a classroom account by their teacher or school district and assigned a password. Students will access their student portal by inputting their teacher’s username, choosing their name from the dropdown menu, and inputting the two-picture password assigned by their teacher.

Collection of Information from Teachers and School Districts

We collect personally identifiable information, such as names, postal addresses, and email addresses, when voluntarily submitted by teachers, school districts, or parents. The information you provide is used to fulfill your specific request and is only used for that purpose unless you give us permission to use it in another manner.

With the launch of the Developing Decoders All Access Pass digital platform, the following additional data practices apply:

  • Payment and billing information submitted during subscription purchases is processed through Stripe, a third-party payment processor. Laprea Education Inc. does not store credit card or payment details directly. Stripe’s privacy practices are governed by their own privacy policy.
  • When an Admin invites a teacher to join a multi-license account, the teacher’s email address is collected and used solely to send an automated account setup invitation. This email address is stored in the platform database for the purpose of managing account access.
  • Subscription data, including account type, license count, and billing status, is synced between Stripe and the Developing Decoders All Access Pass platform via an automated webhook. This sync is used only to activate and manage subscription access.

New York Education Law §2-d

Laprea Education Inc. is committed to protecting the confidentiality, integrity, and security of student, teacher, and staff data, consistent with the provisions of New York Education Law §2-d. Laprea Education Inc. is currently in compliance with the finalized provisions of New York Education Law §2-d and the regulations approved by the New York State Board of Regents on January 13, 2020.

Parents Bill of Rights for Data Privacy and Security

Laprea Education Inc. and the Developing Decoders All Access Pass platform are committed to protecting the privacy and security of student, teacher, and principal data. In accordance with New York Education Law §2-d, Laprea Education Inc. would like to inform the community of the following:

  • A student’s personally identifiable information cannot be sold or released for any commercial purposes.
  • Parents have the right to inspect and review the complete contents of their child’s education record through downloadable PDFs from the teacher portal.
  • State and federal laws protect the confidentiality of personally identifiable information, and safeguards associated with industry standards and best practices, including but not limited to encryption, firewalls, and password protection, must be in place when data is stored or transferred.
  • Parents have the right to have complaints about possible breaches of student data addressed. Complaints should be directed in writing to the Chief Privacy Officer, New York State Education Department, 89 Washington Avenue, Albany, New York 12234. Complaints may also be submitted using the form available at http://www.nysed.gov/data-privacy-security/report-improper-disclosure.

Cookie and Tracking Technology

The site may use cookie and tracking technology depending on the features offered. Cookie and tracking technology are useful for gathering information such as browser type and operating system, tracking the number of visitors to the site, and understanding how visitors use the site. Cookies can also help customize the site for visitors. Personal information cannot be collected via cookies and other tracking technology; however, if you previously provided personally identifiable information, cookies may be tied to such information.

Aggregate tracking information is not installed or utilized on any pages of our platform that are accessible to children, in accordance with COPPA.

Aggregate cookie and tracking information on specific pages of our website that are only accessible to adults and purchasers of the program may be shared with third parties and utilized for commercial purposes. These third parties include Facebook and Google Tag Manager.

Distribution of Information

We may share information with governmental agencies or other companies assisting us in fraud prevention or investigation. We may do so when: (1) permitted or required by law; (2) trying to protect against or prevent actual or potential fraud or unauthorized transactions; or (3) investigating fraud which has already taken place. The information is NOT provided to these companies for marketing purposes.

Commitment to Data Security

Your personally identifiable information is kept secure. Only authorized employees, agents, and contractors who have agreed to keep information secure and confidential have access to this information. All emails and newsletters from this site allow you to opt out of further mailings.

The Developing Decoders All Access Pass platform secures data from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. Laprea Education Inc. stores and processes data in accordance with industry best practices. This includes appropriate administrative, physical, and technical safeguards to secure data from unauthorized access, disclosure, and use. The platform conducts periodic risk assessments and remediates any identified security vulnerabilities in a timely manner. Laprea Education Inc. will provide prompt notification to you in the event of a security or privacy incident.

The Developing Decoders All Access Pass platform subcontracts with Amazon Web Services (AWS), a highly secure and robust cloud computing infrastructure. AWS has instituted a FERPA Compliance Program.

The Developing Decoders All Access Pass platform utilizes SSL technology which securely encrypts all data transmitted between your web browser and our servers. We regularly implement security patches and upgrades to our software and to the third-party software we utilize.

Student Privacy Pledge

  1. We will collect, use, share, and retain student personal information only for purposes for which we were authorized by the educational institution or agency, teacher, or the parent/student.
  2. We will not sell Student Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
  3. We will not use or disclose student information collected through an educational or school service for behavioral targeting of advertisements to students.
  4. We will not build a personal profile of a student other than for supporting authorized educational or school purposes or as authorized by the parent/student.
  5. We will not make material changes to school service provider education privacy policies without first providing prominent notice to the users and/or account holders and allowing them choices before data is used in any manner inconsistent with terms they were initially provided.
  6. We will not knowingly retain Student PII beyond the time period required to support the authorized educational or school purposes, or as authorized by the parent/student.
  7. We will disclose clearly in contracts or privacy policies, including in a manner easy for institutions and parents to find and understand, what types of Student PII we collect and the purposes for which the information we maintain is used or shared with third parties.
  8. We will support access to and correction of Student PII by the eligible student or their authorized parent, either by assisting the educational institution in meeting its requirements or directly when the information is collected directly from the student with student/parent consent.
  9. We will maintain a comprehensive security program that is reasonably designed to protect the security, confidentiality, and integrity of Student PII against risks, such as unauthorized access or use, or unintended or inappropriate disclosure, through the use of administrative, technological, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information.
  10. We will require that our vendors with whom Student PII is shared in order to deliver the educational service, if any, are obligated to follow these same commitments for the given Student PII.
  11. We will allow a successor entity to maintain the Student PII in the case of our merger or acquisition by another entity, provided the successor entity is subject to these same commitments for the previously collected Student PII.
  12. We will incorporate privacy and security when developing or improving our educational products, tools, and services and comply with applicable laws.
